How are you? No, really……..how are you? Really.
I don’t know about you but these last 10 weeks have been an absolute roller coaster. Whether you are a Professional or ‘In Training” Actor, Director (of all kinds), SM, Production Manager, Movement Director, Fight Director, Intimacy Director, Designer, Lighting Designer, Sound, Musician (the list could go on….) - this is a really freaking (I don’t think I’m allowed to swear on here) scary time. Let’s be real - we all rely on Theatre for all or part of our income and there seems to be no real idea of when things will start back up again. I have danced between the euphoria of being at home for a sustained period of time with my wife and dog, which is usually a rare thing, and real anxiety of what’s going to happen. Should I change career? Should I start looking for work as an Amazon delivery driver? Should I re-train? Just hang in there? So many should’s and so many questions not to mention the almighty tangle of feels that are completely overwhelming.
What I do know, is that this pandemic has given me time. Time. The illusive thing that I normally complain about - there’s never enough hours in the day, I don’t have time right now, IN A MINUTE!!!! and now I have some. So what am I going to do with it? What are you going to do with it?
I guess I should tell you a little about me!?! Hello, I’m V. I am Agent at Rc-Annie Ltd, an Actor, Rachel’s wife and Baxter, the Rc-Annie War Hound’s, Mum. I have had a very real interest in Wellness ever since I started on a Weight Loss and Fitness Journey which led me to train as a PT in 2007. Now don’t get the wrong idea - when I was training as a PT I was surrounded by uber fit humans who were middle distance runners or competitive Triatheletes or Semi Pro Rowers. WTF am I doing, was often running through my head! On the first day of training, we were asked to introduce ourselves by telling the group a bit about ourselves. When it was my turn, I said “ Hi, my name’s V. Unlike everyone here, I am not a fit, athletic gal, I am an Actor who enjoys going to the gym but I was the fat girl at school who always had her period in games.” I soon learned that it was for this exact reason that many of my subsequent clients wanted to train with me. Who knew?!? I love helping others by listening and motivating and whatever job I have done, this is something I often find myself doing. I also LOVE a group course, I am a real joiner - having something to follow, the opportunity to learn about myself and having people to follow along with is something I really enjoy. SO……I have put together a 7 week Wellness Challenge that we, at RC-Annie, are going to run via Email, Instagram and YouTube. Each week we will be focusing on a different Self Care/Wellness Practice some of which you may be familiar with and others maybe not so much. We’ll release an intro video each Sunday with an email to follow with links on resources so you can get practicing wherever you are, some questions to ponder, tasks to do and some daily motivation. We will also be running an optional weekly Zoom Drinks each Friday from 5-6pm so that we can chat, share experiences and thoughts. You are more than welcome to come along and just listen too. I am really excited about this Wellness Challenge and hope to get and share some Positivity through Proactivity. It is open to all and completely FREE!
