"One could argue that Violence requires Intimacy - so we approach Intimacy Direction in the same way as Fight Direction - practically and logically whilst taking care of everyone in the room."
- We are often asked to work with Actors on creating moments of intimacy not just violent intimacy.
- We have always been committed to creating safe spaces where Actors feel respected, retain their dignity and are facilitated to make their best work. Our Fight Directors pride themselves in being able to collaborate with Actors and Directors to create safe, appropriate and effective physical illusion both violent and intimate.
- Since 2005 we have worked on countless scenes of an intimate and emotionally vulnerable nature. In 2018 alone a fifth of our Fight Direction work has required Intimacy Direction, some examples for this year: Duchess of Malfi at the Swan RSC, The Village at Stratford East, Othello at the Globe, Girl on a train at WYP, Europe at Leeds Playhouse and DiG for Theatr Bara Caws. They also worked on Katie Mitchell’s acclaimed Cleansed at the NT.
- We are mindful of the work we create and will turn down work that threatens to be exploitative in any manner.
