
Intensives
We regularly run annual stage combat intensives which culminate in a BADC examination (British Academy of Dramatic Combat) Intensives are from 8-10 days and can be in any or all BADC Levels: Foundation, Level One, Two or Three (advanced). We provide all weaponry required and exam fees are included. We run intensives for Central, ALRA, Cygnet Theatre School, Bird College Sidcup, Yale Wrexham, Buckinghamshire New University and The Roundhouse.
Theatrical Handguns
As recommended by the Stage Management Association: A full day workshop for those of you who want to learn to handle a Blank Firing Handgun and Realistic Imitation Firearms either onstage or behind the scenes. Learn how to look like you’re a skilled marksman/woman. Discover how best to deal with having to work with one in your production. This is a comprehensive workshop with discussion and practical elements based on gun handling techniques and the UK GUN laws. Learn to load, clean and fire in as safe a manner as possible.
Blood and Guts!
Blood bags, Blood knives, Knives through arms, Blood capsules and brains! Messy but fun Blood FX. Get to grips with the gorier side of fights and mock injuries without breaking the budget. Ever wondered how they get the right amount of blood to the right place at the right time? Now is your chance to get stuck in! Remember to bring a change of clothes because you will get messy and sticky.
Breakables
Working with breakable props is almost an art form in itself. Surprisingly, it’s much harder than you think being hit over the head with a fake bottle or bar stool without getting hurt! But the hardest thing is understanding how to make the break look realistic and work for camera or an audience without everything just shattering into smithereens!
Film Fights
From one day to a full week creating a fight showreel. Everything changes when you put a fight on set. The action itself, the shot and your focus. Understand the demands of working a fight for camera and comprehend what everyone expects from you. Learn how you can reduce the takes by knowing your place in the team. Learn the terms, understand the angles and deliver the shot.
War Horse
A weekend of learning how to work with trained film action horses. Activities from basic horse control to obstacle courses, riding at the tilt and a knights training. Every performer wants to add Horse Ridding skills to their CV and this course is a perfect way to begin. It’s a great introduction for fighters and action performers and is also ideal for riders wishing to work with the very different signals and commands that a highly trained Film horses demands.
